It’s August at The Knob—and that means it's time for new beginnings. Whether you’re heading back to school, launching new routines, or simply ready for a fresh start, this season is all about moving forward with purpose and prayer.

This month's Events:

Join us for the Back to School Prayer Rally on Wednesday, August 13 at 6 PM—a powerful evening of unity as we pray over students, families, and educators.
Get ready for fun and fellowship at our Church Picnic on Saturday, August 16 at Camp Jordan.
Bring your family, your appetite, and your favorite lawn chair! Prayer Service, Bible Study, 412 Youth Ministry, and Bridge Ministry will all resume Wednesday, August 20—so mark your calendars and come ready to grow.
Also, don’t miss the Evangelism Training hosted by the Evangelism Ministry on Saturday, August 30 from 10 AM–2 PM. Breakfast and lunch will be served—and it’s open to the public with advance registration.

This month’s Ministry Spotlight shines on our Media Ministry, which began with radio in 1963 and has faithfully grown to include TV, livestreaming, digital content, and social media. This team works behind the scenes so the Word can go beyond the walls.

Let this season be a reminder: even when the path is new, God’s presence is steady. New beginnings can feel uncertain—but they’re often the doorways to transformation.

Media Ministry - Sharing the Message Since 1963

The Media Ministry at Orchard Knob MBC has a legacy of innovation and service. What began with radio in 1963 expanded to TV in 1998, and now reaches across digital platforms through livestreaming, video, sound, and social media.

From running slides and sound during worship to managing cameras and editing videos for online services, this team quietly works behind the scenes to make sure the Word goes forth with clarity and excellence. Their dedication ensures that every service, announcement, and event reaches both our local family and those tuning in from afar.

The Media Ministry isn't just present on Sundays-they're at nearly every event. They support outdoor services like Church in the Park and parking lot worship, set up tech for classrooms and conferences, lead media planning sessions, and interact with our online audience in real-time. Whether it's operating soundboards, switching scenes, taking photos, or preparing presentation slides, this team handles it all to create a seamless worship experience.

It's hard work-but it's meaningful work. If you're interested in sound engineering, cameras, presentation software, social media, or video editing, this is a great place to grow your gifts while helping others encounter Christ.

August Spotlight at The Knob

New Beginnings: A Fresh Start in Faith

The start of a new season is more than a calendar change—it’s a spiritual invitation. In Isaiah 43:19, God tells His people:

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”

He said this in the midst of Israel’s exile, not after it. Even while things felt uncertain, God was already working a new plan. And He still is.

New beginnings often feel uncomfortable. Ask Joshua, who stepped into leadership after Moses. Ask any student starting a new grade, or any parent navigating new routines. The unknown is intimidating—but it’s also where faith gets real.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases… His mercies are new every morning.” —Lamentations 3:22–23

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will direct your paths.” —Proverbs 3:5–6

This month, as backpacks are packed and schedules are set, let’s step into the new with faith. Even if your knees shake, your faith can still stand. The same God who parted the Red Sea is making a way in your wilderness too.

This is the perfect time to refresh your faith and lean into God—because we never want to start something new without Him. Let every beginning be built on His presence, His Word, and His promise to lead us well.

Here’s to fresh starts, brave steps, and the grace that meets us every morning.
